Norwich Vs QPR preview thread:
Formations:
• Typically a 4-2-3-1 base formation
• Transitioning into a 4-4-2 out of possession, with horizontal and vertical compactness.
• Very well coached team, this has been obvious in their build up.
• Single pivot of Sam Field, supported by AMs who drop to help in the build up.
• Johansen's position is more flexible. He fills in for FBs when they move forward.
• Triangles and 3rd man runs on both wings create progressive passing options.
• 3rd man runs attract opponents to the ball, this allows QPR to exploit the space vacated by the opposition with the run of a 3rd man.
• QPR use the space created to get crosses into the box.
• High FBs on the side of an attack, Johansen fills space between CB and attacking FB.
• Interchanging positions, lots of rotations between players in attacking 3rd. This makes it hard for their markers who may either be dragged out of position or may lose their man.
• Lots of off the ball movement to create space and passing angles.
• However, they are vulnerable in transition due to their width in possession.
• Their width creates space for opponents to attack after a turnover in possession.
• Norwich could exploit this by pressing passing lanes.
• It's important for Norwich to avoid being dragged around by QPR.
• QPR want opponents to follow their movements, it creates space for them to attack.
